Hmm . . . now this is setting the bar in the insanity olympics.

Just when I thought people couldn't be anymore messed up, they prove me wrong. I'm now thinking of a story I had seen only a few weeks earlier about the teen that was purchasing chemicals to blow up his school. I wondered how these new kids, these new future wannabee killers were gonna set the bar. I have my answer right here.

Ryan Schallenberger, a straight-A senior at Chesterfield High School, said that he wanted to bomb his high school so that he could go up to heaven and kill Jesus.

My opinion: Really? You're a straight-A student. You're obviously an intelligent individual. You have so much potential to do great things. So why are you wasting this, wanting to blow up your school to kill Jesus? I'm not an athiest. I believe in Jesus, and I have to guess this makes him very sad. Either that, or he's laughing his head off at your insanity. Somehow I think it's the former, but you never know.

Why are so many students these days resorting to violence to get attention? Do they really believe that they have no other means of being noticed? Why? Why? Why?! You people are making my head hurt! Please, get some mental help and stop thinking about killing the few sane people around you. This is not what society should be reduced to.

Again, this topic is open for discussion.

Austrian Man's "House of Horror"

I don't know how many of you are aware of this, but apparently there was an Austrian woman who was imprisoned in her father's basement since she was 18 years old, where she was continually sexually assaulted/raped. These rapings resulted in four children: two sons and two daughters. One of the daughters died and Josef Fritzl, the father, burned the child's body. The children were seperated from their mother at a very young age and raised by this man and his wife. He told them that their mother abandoned them and so they would take care of them.

She was only discovered a few days ago. She had been in there since 1984, and all this time, Fritzl's wife never knew her daughter was Josef's prisoner. Now that is remarkable.

So what's your take on this?

I personally feel sorry for this woman, first of all. I could not even imagine such cruelty coming from someone who should be trusted. What kind of sociopath would lock his daughter away and continually rape her for for 24 years? This man deserves to be locked up for life.

More Senseless Violence (Surprise, Surprise)

Once again, I've come across another violent story, but this time it's a bank robber in Indiana who shot a pregnant teller in the lower abdoment.

Here's the link:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24257835/

Okay, first of all, what where these people doing robbing a bank in the first place? Yes, I understand that there are idiots in this world who are too lazy, too evil, too whatever to make an honest living instead of getting a quick fix in cash by robbing a bank. I get that there are attention whores out there that want to make the news (this applies to men and women). And yes, some people do this out of "desperation" or whatever. I'm not so naive that I would assume that anyone would ever use that excuse or that they felt oppressed by society. But what does desperation or opression have to do with shooting a woman who was pregnant with twins? What could ever justify that? The story never mentioned her resisting the robbers or anything.

I don't know whether or not the fetuses were harmed. It seems likely that they were. But even if they weren't, nothing could ever justify harming an unborn child, let alone two.

If these fetuses were killed, I hope the pertitrators are not only tried for robbery, but for murder as well. This woman clearly did not deserve this.

Hey sorry, I just realized that in my last post, I said I went onto yahoo.com for this story, but it's actually msnbc.com. Sorry for the confusion. It's MSNBC, not yahoo.

South Carolina Teen Caught in Plan to Bomb His High School

Okay, so I went to yahoo.com early this morning to try to keep up with my current events, and this is one of the stories I came across. "Police: Teen planned to bomb high school."

Here's the link to the story:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24230688/

Even though there are many similar stories like this almost on a daily basis, it never ceases to shock me that today's teens are acting out so violently, especially when they are so passive-aggressive when it comes to dealing with their problems. Unfortunately, with some of these teens, it seems as if the problem has moved beyond being passive aggressive and has crossed the line to needing mental help.

But in all honesty, what is causing so many high school and college students to be driven so over the edge, that they want to kill other students who are most likely aware that they have done anything wrong to these individuals. Seriously, are these students so desperate for attention that they are willing to take lives? In many cases, it goes so much deeper than that.

What disturbs me most is seeing students who are admiring the "handywork" of those who were previous "school terrorists," such as the two students of Colombine High School, who seem to have really started this violent, sadistic phenomenon. If students continue to attack their schools, thinking they need to one-up the students of Colombine or the student at Virginia Tech, then it will just continue with a vicious cycle of emotionally/mentally disturbed teens and young adults who feel as if the only way they will receive attention is if they kill a certain # of students in their school. The more they kill, the more famous they will be. It's as simple as that. And then the "courageous" thing to do is to take your own life when you are done with your rampage.

So what happens next? More students will get this idea in their heads that killing is the easiest way to be noticed and then more students will be slaughtered. This may be a "trend" now, but what's going to happen five years from now? Ten years from now? Twenty? Any ideas, here?

If bombing/shooting schools is the trend now, what other extremes will people go to in the future? Will it eventually filter down from high schools and colleges to middle schools and elementary schools? Are we eventually going to need metal detectors in Day Care Centers? Seriously, how sick and demented is this world coming when you have to wonder every single day of your life, could my school be next?

I don't know about you, but I personally don't want to have to think about that. Unfortunately, this seems to be a new reality we must face.

Hey, so this is my first blog. Believe it or not, this is actually for my Mass Communications class. My professor is actually assigning us to create blogs. I didn't see that one coming, but I can't say I'm complaining. I always wanted to create a blog.

Anyway, the point of this blog is not to spread celebrity gossip. Or any kind of gossip for that matter. I would like to discuss different aspects of Mass Communication and media. I am open to any pointers or criticisms anyone may have. Like I said, I'm not exactly experienced with this. Any tips are greatly appreciated, all I ask is nothing hateful is posted.

If you are part of a different area in the country or the world, I would absolutely love to know what is going on around you. I'm curious about the world around me and I would love to discuss anything that anyone has to say about current events. Debates are healthy. I am open towards anyone views, even if they're different from mine. Just don't attack anyone personally. That's just rude.

And even though I said no celebrity gossip, I would love to know your views on media as well. This would be very useful for what I am studying and I would love to know anyone's opinion on the subject.

Alright, I just realized I wrote a novel here. Sorry about that. I'll try not to make my posts so long in the future, but I won't promise anything.

Oh, and one more thing, T.G.I.F!!!! :)
